Thought from devotions today

I was reading Romans 12:1-21 today for devotions from the Our Daily Bread. I was struck by a small little word, then.

Verse 2 in the NIV reads, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."

I was reflecting today that a lot of my prayers lately have been on the subject of trying to figure out what God wants me to do (e.g. honeymoon, misc wedding plans, future ministries, etc). I am not saying that we should go to Him in prayer when we need wisdom. We are told in James to do this very thing. However, I think that as I seek God's will I need to ensure I am following the directives of Romans 12:1,2. I need to ensure, with the Spirit's help, that I am submitting myself to God each day as my reasonable act of worship, and allowing God to renew my mind. Then I will be able to know what God will is.

These are my thoughts for today and I'm sticking to them...
